Phil's BBQ, San Diego

Phil’s BBQ San Diego is good barbeque. Normally, corporate luncheons are a big disappointment, like the food served at most weddings. Honestly, this is some of the better BBQ I’ve had out West and certainly the best corporate lunch I’ve had, ever. For those wondering, Big Nate’s in San Francisco is my benchmark for comparison for great (really great) BBQ on the West Coast and is still my personal favorite. I'm not a huge fan of Everett and Jones.

Phil’s BBQ pork ribs were tender and seasoned nicely. Yes, I ate pork ribs at corporate lunch and liked it. Suffice it to say I didn’t shake many hands after lunch. Ribs were tender but not off the bone, seasoned dry with the wet seasoning applied late in the cooking process. Coldslaw was still crisp, and the white potato salad was as close to homemade as I’ve had. Phil’s BBQ and sides are done right in San Diego and way better than the standard corporate lunch.
