Mammoth Lakes, Chuck Norris, and Toilet Paper

I write a lot about CA Highway 395. There are lots of great and not-so-great dining experiences on The East Side. The East Side is growing. Palates are developing. Even specialists are emerging.

Take Pie in the Sky Cafe on Rock Creek Road, they make 30 pies a day and sell out every day. Cell phones don't work at the end of Rock Creek Road and you're nearly at 10,000 feet in elevation. Why would anyone go back that far? For Pie. Unfortunately, Rock Creek Lakes Resort is not open in winter time.

Summer is nearly over and I'm going to cover some long-time establishments this round, The Stove, Breakfast Club, Roberto's, and Petra's, Stellar Brew, Rock Creek Lakes Resort and one newcomer, Smokeyard.  I will post one review a day for the next week and will end on a funny note; the whole Chuck Norris and Toilet Paper thing.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy a week long series of Mammoth Lakes and Highway 395, the other side of California...The East Side!
